“Continuously challenging students to strive for more. Why? Because you all are the future”, said Mr. James Prendergast also known by everyone as Mr. P when asked what one of his goals are as a teacher. There has been word around the school that there are new teachers this year. Mr. P is the one those new teachers, joining the 11th grade history department. With a family full of teachers, Mr. P was also inspired to go into teaching himself with a strong passion for learning new things.

You can find Mr. P in Room 407 teaching students the wonders of history, but on his off time you can see him at his desk grading or walking the halls brainstorming future lesson plans. Students like 11th grader Alex Satty praise Mr. P for being a “good teacher”.

In school Mr. P is known as a teacher but here is some insight to who he is outside of the classroom. He has traveled to a lot of places including China, and Egypt, in which he also lived for four years. This also happens to be is his first year back in New York. Mr. P is a unique kind of teacher that though fun, he is serious at times. Mr. P wants students to push students to be able to challenge themselves and overcome their limits. The reason? Because he firmly believes that the young generation are our future.  He also continues to pour his fascination of history onto all students.

Everyone give a warm welcome to one of our new teachers, Mr. P, a man of history and exploration. He continues to challenge himself and others around him to become the best version of themselves.
