Recently, there has been a Popeyes collaboration with Five Nights at Freddy’s to promote their new movie coming out on December 5th.
The Freddy Fazbear Deluxe consists of three chicken tenders with a garlic parmesan rub, garlic crusted Cheesy Bites with marinara sauce, a Strawberry-iced Cupcake Cup, and a beverage. All of these items is retail for $12.99, and we’re here to tell you if this meal is worth it! Nabiya and I visited Popeyes to test this meal.
The wait time was about 20 minutes even though I placed a mobile order and the staff were noticeably irritated because of how packed and impatient all the customers were. But for Nabiya’s experience, she did it in person to see if there would be a difference. The wait was about 15 minutes or so, the customer service wasn’t bad, the place was packed but they didn’t forget anything and added extra sauce in the bag. As for the food itself, the garlic parm tenders were easily 8.5/10 because of how nice the seasoning complemented the crunchy juicy tenders. Though, you could tell that the tenders weren’t correctly tossed because some tenders had more seasoning than others. Overall, they were pretty solid for Popeyes and are arguably the best thing about this new meal.
Moving forward to the garlic-crusted Cheesy Bites, they had lots of flavor, but didn’t have any sort of cheese pull as shown in the ads, so we were disappointed. We rated this item a 6/10 because it was good but nothing revolutionary. We both would have enjoyed it if they had added more seasoning. Due to it just being fried, there was nothing out of the ordinary.
The last speciality item that came with this meal was the strawberry-iced Cupcake Cup. This item was a small moist vanilla mini cake topped with bright pink frosting. We gave this one a 7.5/10. Even though the cake itself was pretty good, the frosting had a bitterness to it that we did not find pleasant. It also didn’t look that appetizing to us. Due to the advertising, we had a higher standard than what was given to us.
In total, this meal has received a 22/30, and we would only recommend this meal for the vibes. If you’re really looking for a meal at Popeyes to eat, we don’t think this would be the right choice, as the tenders were really the only thing that stood out in this meal. The sides that came with the meal also didn’t make any sense and didn’t really complement the tenders at all.
Overall, this meal did well aesthetically and achieved that fun nostalgic feel that Five Nights at Freddy’s has but did not do well on the actual taste and quality of the food.
